Tonight we'll all be saying goodbye to 2008 and wondering what 2009 has in store for us. Wow, what a year this has been. We've had some major highlights here at Whitecap in 2008:

1.    We launched the fresh new redesign of www.whitecap.ca.
2.    Ultimate Foods for Ultimate Health by Liz Pearson and Mairlyn Smith won gold at the Canadian Culinary Book Awards.
3.    Both Dot to Dot in the Sky: Stories of the Zodiac by Joan Marie Galat and Dogabet by Dianna Bonder won gold for the Moonbeam Awards.
4.    We won  the  contract to publish Miga, Quatchi and Sumi: The Story of the Vancouver 2010 Mascots.
5.    The Definitive Guide to Canadian Artisanal and Fine Cheese by Gurth Pretty won gold at the World Gourmand Cookbook Awards.
6.    Whitecap authors, Dominique and Cindy Duby won silver at the World Gourmand Cookbook Awards and bronze at the Canadian Culinary Book Awards for Wild Sweet Chocolate, released Crème Brulee this fall and somehow found the time to create a limited release chocolate line to tie in with their new book.
7.    We had 6 out of 8 cookbooks featured in Barb Holland's cookbook wrap up in the Metro December 4, 2008: The Brownie Lover's Bible, A Taste of Canada, Crème Brûlée, The Main, In the Kitchen with Anna and Menus from an Orchard Table.
8.    Robert McCullough, Whitecap publisher, was appointed an adjunct professorship with Simon Fraser University's Master of Publishing Program.
9.    We hit landmark printings for several titles:
10.    We had the pleasure of working with amazing people all year long: authors, editors, proof readers, graphic designers, photographers, food stylists, book retailers, sales representatives, publicists, event coordinators, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.

What are some of your highlights from 2008?

So good to see Kitchen for Kids on your Best of 2008 list! It's so gratifying to see the book still going strong years after its launch! Parents continue to tell other parents about it. Just last month, 2 moms came up to me at the One of a Kind Show in Toronto to tell me how much their families love the book and how many people they've recommended it to. Cheers!
