After graduating from the University of British Columbia in 1993, Claire Newell opened Jubilee Tours & Travel Ltd.,which has become one of the top producing independent travel agenciesin Western Canada. Now, almost 15 years later Claire continues to helmthe successful company and also appears 6 times a week on Global Television, every Thursday afternoon on CFUN 1410AM radio, and writes a regular travel column in TV Week magazine.

At Jubilee Travel, Claire oversees all aspects of the business, but shefocuses most of her time on her true passion—negotiating the best dealsand marketing them via television, radio and print. Claire is mostproud of the continued increase in Jubilee’s sales every year, despitesome devastating blows to the travel industry like 9/11, SARS, and theCanada 3000 bankruptcy.  

Claire is certainly a mover-and-shaker in the travel business world. In2004, she was appointed as a member of the inaugural Travel IndustryAdvisory Group (TIAG) by the Board of Directors of the BusinessPractices & Consumer Protection Authority of BC, which was createdto identify customer and industry related issues and potentialsolutions. In 2004, Claire was also chosen by Business in Vancouver asone of BC’s top business achievers under the age of 40.

Claire and her husband live in Vancouver, BC with their two children, Lauren and Grant.

In 2008, Claire published her first book Travel Best Bets (link to book page) with Whitecap Books.
