Troy and Cheryl-Lynn Townsin

Troy Townsin was born in Melbourne, Australia and worked as an actor and playwright before embarking on a round-the-world backpacking extravaganza taking him to several continents. He settled for a while in Soho, England where he managed the Acoustic Café bar and restaurant before becoming a beverage manager at the exclusive Café de Paris in London's glamorous West End. It was here that Troy had the opportunity to develop his passion for food and wine as winemakers and experts from around the world flew in to provide the finest food and beverage training.

Troy returned to Melbourne and stayed in the hospitality industry while earning a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies. The global nature of the course allowed him to take semesters in Malaysia, Turkey and the UK. While studying in Malaysia, he met his future wife, Cheryl-Lynn, who was also taking part in a university exchange program.

After graduating, he worked for the United Nations Information Centre in London before taking a job as an event reporter. In 2003, he won the prestigious Travel Writer of the Year award with TNT Magazine UK. In 2004 Troy moved to the Pacific Northwest where his passion for the world's finest food and wine could be indulged. In 2005 he co-authored the hit cookbook/guidebook, Cooking with BC Wine. It won a Gourmand World Cookbook Award. Troy currently runs a weekly wine column on Canada's CBC radio.

Cheryl-Lynn Townsin was born and raised in British Columbia, Canada. With a diverse family of European backgrounds, she grew up in an environment where fine dining and fine wine were always appreciated.  Cheryl-Lynn completed her Bachelor of Commerce in International Business at the University of Victoria. After working as a writer for Ubiqus reporting in the UK, she moved back to the Pacific Northwest. Currently pursuing an international career in education, Cheryl-Lynn has worked and travelled extensively throughout South East Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Wherever she goes, she is always spreading the word that the Pacific Northwest is one of the top food and wine destinations on the planet. Cheryl-Lynn is currently managing international MBA programs at Royal Roads University in Victoria BC.

Cheryl-Lynn and Troy were married in wine country, and the fantastic wines of the region inspired them to put together Cooking with BC Wine. The couple has since continued their success in combining travel guides with wine and food, and in Cooking with the Wines of Washington and Cooking with the Wines of Oregon.
