James Nevison & Kenji Hodgson

Kenji Hodgson and James Nevison are HALF A GLASS, an alliance formed out of a desire to make wine more fun and accessible. As James says, "Let's take wine off the pedestal. It never asked to be there in the first place."

Known throughout Vancouver as the "Wine Guys," they met in high school and went on to "informally" study wine as undergraduates at the University of British Columbia. James' love of wine all started while he was living in Barcelona, Spain, where he discovered that "the good life" was defined by the remarkably easy combination of good wine, good food and good friends. He has traveled the world to the taste the wine of six wine-producing continents.

Kenji's father introduced him to the wonderful world of wine, which prompted many pursuits, including an epic, endurance-testing two weeks at the 2002 harvest in Pouilly-Fuisse, France. Now, Kenji himself is involved in the wine-making process as an assistant winemaker in the Okanagan Valley.

Both James and Kenji hold certification from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust of London. In their attempt to make wine more relevant to modern lifestyles, they created HALF A GLASS. James and Kenji's reviews and wine musings can be found on their website www.halfaglass.com, and in their weekly Province newspaper column, where they have become well known as 'The Wine Guys.' HALFAGLASS has also contributed to Wine Access, CityFood, and TASTE magazines and provides hands-on wine education classes, which continue to grow in popularity.
